What can I expect from the application process?

Application Process

Excelium Foundation uses an online application and reporting process. Through this online system, applicants receive guidelines and templates for developing the proposal and budget, as well as a framework for evaluation. We complete our due diligence by confirming the applicant organizations tax status, where appropriate.

  • Organizations that have already received a grant, but have not completed all reporting requirements for that grant, may not apply for or receive a new grant.
  • Overhead/indirect costs (i.e. non-program-related expenses) may not exceed 10% of the total program budget.

Selection Process

  • Applications will be reviewed by Foundation staff and Grants Committee, who will select those grants that merit anon-site visit.
  • Foundation staff will contact those selected to schedule an on-site visit.
  • Once all on-site visits are completed, funding recommendations will be made to the Foundation Board.
  • The Foundation Board will make final funding decisions.
  • Organizations will be notified of any decision via e-mail. All funding decisions are final.
  • Funded organizations are required to sign a grant agreement within 10 days of notice of grant award. The agreement includesintended results, targets, milestones or reporting deliverables, and the payment schedule.
  • Grant checks will be mailed directly to the recipient organizations address listed on the grant application, following receipt of thegrant agreement and in accordance with the payment schedule.
  • Funded organizations must comply with all reporting requirements. Failure to comply may result in rescission of grant funding and becoming ineligible to apply for new grants.
  • Excelium Foundation reserves the right to adjust guidelines, submission deadlines and notification dates without prior notice.
  • The Foundation endeavors to review and process materials received in a timely manner and to stay within the applicationdeadlines.

Potential Grantee Forum

Excelium Foundation may host a forum prior to the launch of each funding cycle. This will allow potential grantees to gain additional information on identified areas of interest and geographic focus.
